A1Seafood.com specializes in wholesale dungeness crabs. We can ship live or cooked as well as cooked frozen. The best months to purchase dungeness crab are during the winter months as the dungeness crab is what is referred to as “hard” meaning their shells are full of juicy crab meat. During the warmer months the dungeness crab are what is referred to as “soft” meaning they do not have as much meat in them. Soft does not mean their shells are soft at least with dungeness crabs.

Why is it important to be very choosy when buying live dungeness crabs? Being shipped stresses the crab out to much and he (males are available for harvest only) releases enzymes into his body. These enzymes causes the meat to be less sweet. If you don’t work with the absolute quickest handlers (getting it off the boat, packaged and shipped) then you are not getting the absolute best crabs. We only deal with NUMBER ONE PRODUCTS..
Did you know?
+ Dungeness crabs will not eat any food in captivity. + Dungeness crabs are the hardest crab to ship live as their lungs are so large any quick movements can tear their insides and organs. + If you were to drop a 50 lb box of dungeness crabs from waist height that almost half of them will die within 24 hours. + A female dungeness crab can release over 2 million crab eggs. + To ensure dungeness crabs remain a sustainable resource the government does not allow the removal of female crabs for commercial or sport fishing.
The ABSOLUTE best tasting dungeness crab is quickly removed from the boat and thrown into a boiling pot of salt water within one hour. That’s exactly what we do for our cooked orders.
We cook our dungeness crabs for 7 minutes per pound and no more so they are just finished. When you receive a cooked crab order from us you can eat it the way it is cold or hot. For hot bring water to rapid boil. Immerse crab fully and flash cook for 2 - 3 minutes (no more) and bon appetite!
The average size of our crabs cooked is 2 lbs.
